Beneath the humor, however, is a sharp and instinctive aviator who understands timing exceptionally well; Tumble rarely rushes the moment, instead allowing an engagement to develop until he sees the opening...and then committing with surprising aggression and precision.

His trademark quirk is a tiny plastic alien known as his “Tactical Advisor,” which accompanies him on major missions, has accumulated its own miniature flight gear and callsign over the years, and is occasionally placed prominently on the briefing table whenever Tumble believes squadron leadership “requires outside consultation.”
