Deaner is never satisfied with average; to him, good is simply a baseline, and improvement is a daily obligation. Whether it’s refining tactics, tightening patterns, or studying debrief footage, he is constantly pushing himself to be sharper than the day before.

Off-duty, Deaner has a quirky obsession with tracking every sortie in a meticulously detailed personal “performance journal,” complete with hand-drawn diagrams and color-coded self-critiques. He even assigns himself unofficial “grades” after flights...rarely giving anything above a B+.
