THE OBSIDIAN PROTOCOLS

FICTIONAL CAMPAIGN BACKSTORY: "Since 2017, a shadow war has been silently raging. The US military presence in Afghanistan was seen as an attempt by a major Western power to establish a new regional order in the Middle East.

Fearful of the influence that this nation had garnered with key Gulf states, and a potential for an even more significant military footprint, the military leader of a prominent Middle Eastern country convinced its President to seek military aid from a major northern ally. This northern ally, also viewing the Western presence in the region as a threat, saw an opportunity to expand its influence in the Middle East.

Motivated by a desire to strengthen its hold in the lucrative energy market, this ally decided to come to the aid of the Middle Eastern country in exchange for access to a significant oil field. In addition, it would supply its partner with the use of its Naval and Air Forces and a highly advanced missile system, enhancing its ally's ability to target bases in neighboring nations. As a result, this northern power now has a foothold in the Middle East oil market, and its major state-owned energy corporation is primed for an energy monopoly that could severely impact allied countries for decades.

The alliance of these two nations, fueled by one's quest for regional dominance and the other's strategy to dominate the world's energy sector, poses a significant threat. Fearing a shift in the balance of power on the Gulf, the United States military would require a swift and immediate response.

Under strict orders from their leadership, a top General has commissioned an Admiral and the battle group of a prominent aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf to end this perilous threat.

This is their story.

These are… The Obsidian Protocols.
